Leg Pain - Conquering Leg Pain in Westchester County

Leg pain can be surprisingly debilitating. The pain may make it difficult to sit, to stand, to roll over in bed. It may make you uncomfortable at work, unable to sit and enjoy a film and limit your physical activities, rendering you unable to play sports or pursue your normal activities. We generally associate pain in our legs with the knees, and with injury. Not all pain comes from injury however. Your leg pain may be caused by arthritis or bursitis, or it may be caused by a problem in your spine. Only a medical professional could tell you what exactly the cause of your pain is, so if you are experiencing pain and it does not go away with a few days of taking it easy, make an appointment for a medical consultation.

Once the doctor has diagnosed the source of your leg pain you will want to take the necessary steps to eliminate the cause(s) and rehabilitate your body. Often, medical doctors will recommend traditional treatments such as drug therapy, physical therapy and even surgery to correct the problem. Although each of these treatments have their merits, if you are suffering from pain related to back injury you may wish to consider a different route of treatment that is more effective than drug therapy or physical therapy on their own, and is less invasive than surgery.

Spinal Compression Therapy or DTS is a therapy system designed to repair and strengthen your back and to help release any pinched nerves that may be causing back or leg pain. DTS therapy involves the use of a specially designed table with a computerized system that helps restore your spine’s normal compression and release cycle. Your chiropractor will design a therapy cycle specific to the needs of your body. After sessions on the DTS table he or she will also use traditional manipulation and physical stimulation as well as working with you on a series of exercises to be done at the clinic and at home to strengthen the back and prevent future pinched discs or nerves.

We are lucky in Westchester County to have many different options for the relief of leg pain. If the source of the pain is from compressed discs or pinched nerves in the back, the use of DTA therapy can provide relief from the pain and help you strengthen your body in a manner that will keep the pain from reoccurring.
