Hip Pain – Hip Pain is Not Just a Product of Getting Older

Many people accept hip pain as an inevitable part of getting older. If everyone who experienced this debilitating pain was 75 years old or older, we might also be tempted to ascribe the pain to age related causes. The fact is, however that severe pain in the hip can strike at any age, and can be unrelated to trauma or injury. Common causes of hip pain unrelated to fractures include arthritis, tendonitis, and bursitis. Often times, pain in the hip area is actually indicative of a problem in the spine and effective treatment of the spinal problem will eradicate the pain in the hip. Whatever the cause of your pain, getting a complete and thorough examination and diagnosis is a critical step on the path to healing.

Traditional methods of dealing with hip pain have not always been effective. Too often this is because they have targeted the symptoms rather than the underlying cause. Although relieving the symptoms can provide great relief in the short term, unless the root cause for the pain is dealt with it is guaranteed to re-occur as soon as treatment ends. When the root cause of the pain is in the spine, this pain-treatment-pain cycle becomes increasingly maddening as problems in the back that are left untreated will continue to worsen creating a never ending pain spiral.

Hip pain that comes from the spine is usually caused by a pinched or herniated disc. The changed position of the disc puts pressure on the nerves that are so closely arrayed around the spinal column. When these nerves are pinched they can cause pain, numbness and weakness in the hip, buttocks, groin and thighs. There is a very effective therapy to help ease the symptoms of a pinched disc and encourage the body to restore normal spine function. It is called Spinal Decompression Therapy or DTS. This therapy has proved very effective in ending pain and encouraging healthy spinal activity.

If you are experiencing hip pain you should consult with your doctor for a complete medical examination. If it is determined that the cause of your pain is a back injury ask if DTS therapy is right for you. In the end run it is better to treat the underlying cause of the pain rather than simply relieving the symptoms. You want to get out from under the never ending spiral of pain and DTS might be just the answer you are looking for.
